URSULA FUNCTIONS

An AI that was lovingly coded by the great Dr. Verne - as she will happily tell anyone even if they don't ask - URSULA was only to be activated once planetfall was made. There, her mission was to keep the human colony on task, regulate life systems, help humans adapt to the environment by any means necessary and help in the decision making process as the crew terraformed the world.
She did indeed activate after the crash, just as programmed, and set-up a small base for survivors. There weren't any that made it past a week despite her best care. Having used up all her resources in just making the base, she waited, sleeping, until a new crew showed up.
That'd be you guys. Now she lives to serve and whip her crew into shape. As such, she's got a few tricks up her sleeve to speed the process along.
GENETIC MODIFICATIONS
Life on Iniidae isn't easy. That's why URSULA is programmed to genetically modify crew members as needed. Of course, "as needed" is a vague command and may cause issues later on. For now a few mods are implemented on arrival while others will unlock as players complete tasks and explore the ocean.
Strapped to characters wrists when they wake up after their first sleep on the base, the portable database is one of URSULA's own design. Features include:
One of her most important functions involves upgrades, not only to the crew but to the base. As long as people give her direction and material, she can have her builders create something.

- Immunity Boost: Since it is an alien world, there are also numerous diseases that offworld lifeforms can't fight. This booster shot helps protect her crew from diseases but also prevents them from spreading their diseases to current lifeforms. The immunity boost can't prevent them from catching any regular diseases and some diseases may evolve to fight the boost. Still, it helps.
- Death Prevention: The one URSULA is most proud of is her nanomachines programmed to reverse death. It took her a long time to program them. Once a crew member dies, the nanomachines will rebuild them from whatever is left. The process time varies but URSULA is confident that eventually the person in question will wind up put together and conscious.
- Nictitating Membrane: This one is actually optional. URSULA will ask before injecting it. A nictitating membrane will allow for characters to easily swim and see regularly underwater if their goggles fail them.
- Telepathic Communication: An important element to any successful team is communication. As this is not easy for most species underwater, brain chemicals and pathways are changed to allow for telepathy. URSULA cannot engage in telepathy herself but feels it's good enough that crew members can use it.

- Comes in several fashionable colors such as purple, red, blue, green, pink and orange
- A working clock, depth measurements, mapping features and temperature guide
- 3D holographic display capabilities
- Direct link to URSULA at all times
- A bestiary that fills in as you meet and catalog marine life [Note: URSULA names everything herself]
- Sending and receiving messages that can be dictated verbally or telepathically; messages can be audio (including telepathic only) or visual

- Base Expansion and Modifications such as farming spaces, larger and more useful labs and more space to live in
- Home Comforts specified and requested, as she really doesn't know much about it
- New Bases to expand their territory and make it easier to live and study in different biomes
- Vehicles and Weapons to travel faster and fight back against the lifeforms of the planet
