APPLICATIONS

PLAYER COUNT: 18/55

QUEUE

Subnautica runs on a player cap of 55 players as we feel this is the maximum number of players we can handle with this size of mod team. Applicants can submit at any time, but applications will not be judged until there are fewer than 55 players in the game. Applications will be judged on a first-come, first-serve basis. To be sure that applicants are still interested when a slot is available, we will contact them with a request to reply within 72 hours regarding their interest.

Please send us your application as a comment to this page! The subject line should be CHARACTER NAME | FANDOM | RESERVED/UNRESERVED. Put the OOC information in the first comment. Reply to that comment with the rest of the information or a link to your app.

OOC INFORMATION
NAME: It's you!
AGE: Are you older than 18 Y/N
PREFERRED CONTACT: Plurk? PM? Skype? Email? Whatever you want people to use
CHARACTERS IN GAME: Put N/A if this doesn't apply

IC INFORMATION
NAME: The character's name as well as important nicknames or aliases
AGE: If their appearance vastly differs from their age (the old "10-year-old is actually 1,000") then mention it
CANON: Just what it says! If you're an OC, just put Original. If you're specifically going with manga or anime or a mix of medias assuming no contradictions also note that
CANON POINT: This only applies for canon characters. Just a simple "Chapter 23", "Episode 50", "Pre-[Specific Boss Battle]" will be enough.
CANON INFORMATION: A link to a wiki, fan translations or whatever will give us the background of the canon/character you're apping. If you're apping an OC, please summarize the world they come from and their role in it.

PERSONALITY: What drives your character? What do they fear? What do they believe in? What makes them angry? What makes them happy? If they're a coward, tell us why. If they're obsessed with cooking, explain how that impacts their decisions. We ask for several solid paragraphs at least that cover what's truly important about and to your character.

ABILITIES: Keep it short and sweet. Mention if you're depowering anything for the game. If they have special talents you think are worth mentioning that would apply to the game - a knack for building, swimming, cooking, biology, anything - then also put that here.

INVENTORY: Just a list here will be fine. Includes pets and anything noteworthy or of interest. Things like the clothes they're wearing don't need to be here but if you wish to list them that's fine.

MEMORY ALTERATION: Here you should describe how their memories have been altered to make them believe they came here willingly, accidentally, or by force. It should be as detailed or as simple as you need it to be to explain their arrival. If you are collaborating with a canonmate or even a cross-canon friend, please note it here so that we know toes aren't being stepped on.

SAMPLE: Link a thread within the past six months. It should be about 15 comments from your character displaying both a solid grasp of the character's voice and introspection. If you wish, you can also write up a sample, as long as it displays both of the requirements.

IC INFORMATION
NAME: Yuri Lowell
AGE: 21
CANON: Tales of Vesperia
CANON POINT: Post-Game
CANON INFORMATION:
Wiki page right here.
Side note: He'll be taken from the PS3 variation of the game. This is really only important to potential future castmates though.

PERSONALITY:

Yuri is Yuri.

When it comes down to Yuri you might as well throw away that textbook on your typical protagonist and throw it into the garbage. Because honestly that's what Yuri would do. Yuri might have been the protagonist, but he did things his own way and it was not much like what you normally see in you're usual protagonists... hero... whatever.

Laid-back and generally uninterested in anything around him is the first look you get with Yuri. After quitting the knights he spent literally most of his time in the lower quarter loafing around. When he's not doing that he's normally causing mayhem with the knights and landing himself in jail Yet Another Time. Throwing knights into rivers, preventing them from taking taxes, breaking and entering ... the list goes on and on. This is because while he remained aloof in the lower quarter, he was also protective of them. Having been raised there from an orphan they're pretty much his "family" and he would go at lengths in order to keep them from going under (literally, as he goes to find a blastia core when their fountain erupts). This protection that Yuri had over the lower quarter eventually extends to the people that he meets during his travels as they also become part of his family.

On that note, Yuri isn't one that likes to sit back and watch people suffer right in front of him. This causes him to be a bit reckless, jumping into situations at times before fulling monitoring. When Flynn was thrown into jail by Don Whitehorse he went to go and help his friend out, only realizing later that it was all just a ploy by the two of them to stop a war. Of course, because he became involved he then had to go what Don Whitehorse wanted. He also broke into a Magistrate's home and went into a dessert to help out victims of higher officials in the Empire. And, of course, the list here continues as well. If it wasn't for this, Yuri would never have left the Lower Quarter to go find the Aque Blastia that was stolen (though it was also partially Estelle's fault, but that's besides the point really).

This side of Yuri is why he turned his back on the Empire. As a knight he couldn't sit and watch people suffer, and if he had to do that then why be a knight at all? While Yuri had his own strong sense of justice, it wasn't anything as Flynn's was. Maybe once upon a time when they both first become knights, but after what he had seen during his stay at the capital it became twisted. Rather and relying on laws and the government to handle things, he took it upon himself to do things his own way when he had to. He didn't want to sit and wait for the Empire to change (as much as he believed in Flynn) before certain government officials were brought in for their wrongdoing. So what does he do? Take it into his own hands, of course. He'll do what it takes, even if it meant dirtying his hands in the process or wounding him in the process. This brought him to killing Ragou and Cumore because he sure wasn't going to wait for the Empire to bring justice down on them, even though it marked him as a criminal (more so, anyways). But he isn't one to turn a blind-eye to the things he's done. He'll take the consequences, and he'll certainly not turn the blame onto someone else. The blame is his to burden.

But, of course, anything that Yuri does for the greater good he never takes credit for. If anything he normally gives the credit to someone else, such as Flynn whose much of his accomplishments were actually that of Yuri's. He turns down rewards such as the item from Drake, or the reward from the Major for reviving their tree. This seems to bother his companions (normally Estelle and especially Flynn) on occasion, but there's little anyone can say to change his mind. He doesn't like having the attention on him so in turn never truly being honest with himself.

His tendency to subtract attention from himself extends more than just him denying his accomplishments or throwing the credit onto someone else. During his conversations with his companions Yuri doesn't really talk about himself that often. When he does it's normally a statement here and there, but that's mostly the extent of it. Not just about himself, but with how he is feeling, as well. He never really explicitly states how he's feeling at any given time; normally he'll drop hints and the group will bring it upon themselves to figure it out. And that's if he's even showing how he's feeling. Which, granted, is something that he's gotten softer about. When he first met Estelle and the others he wouldn't show any emotion. But as time went on, as noticed by Judith, he steadily showed a little bit more, to where they could tell that he was concerned over the Lower Quarter during the incident at Zaphias, and his relieve when they found them alive in the Capital. This could be because as time went on the group became part of his family so he felt more comfortable around them.

Although he doesn't like to draw attention to himself, he's not shy to speak his mind. In fact it's the opposite. Yuri loves sweets, sure, but he doesn't sugar coat his words. Instead he's blunt and he'll speak directly on what he has on his mind. He keeps to himself when it's about himself, sure, but if he has an opinions on the Empire, or some kind of situation just like he won't sit still he won't stay quiet either. If Yuri has an opinion you'll know just what that opinion is. Due to this, though, Yuri can come off as pretty cynical and cold due to his ideals and thoughts on things such as the Empire.Yuri isn't quick to anger, but he's not exactly someone you'd want to see get angry. Since, angering him seemed to have brought people to their death on two occasions. But murders aside, Yuri can get really cynical and bitter when he's angry, on top of speaking what's on his mind. When Yuri found out that Alexei was the mastermind behind everything and that Flynn was being used he was quick to bluntly remind and criticize Flynn because he sure as hell wasn't going to watch Flynn fall down the wrong path. He'll also tell things like they are and won't give sympathy if it's not due. Nor will he lecture someone on something that shouldn't be in his place, as per his conversations with Sodia after she stabbed him.

Blunt, Cynical, sarcastic and cold aren't what he is around his friends. Sure, he can be that way, but he's often seen joking around and teasing them on many occasions. During many of his conversations with his companions he's found to be playing the 'Devil's Advocate'. In return though, Yuri is also seen sometimes getting embarrassed by the things that are being said to him, rather than the other way around. Though it's not a sight seen often. On the other scale of things though Yuri sometimes plays a nurturing role. This side of Yuri came about from the Lower Quarter and helping taking care of the kids. Often the role is seen whenever he's talking with Ted from the Lower Quarter, but Karol and a few other members of the party also sometimes get the 'big brother' that's in Yuri as well. While he might not be the best supporter, Yuri does help support his friends and try to help them whenever he can. Even if it means being blunt about it; it's because he knows how strong his friends are and can handle it when he's being blunt about a situation. Such as Karol after Don's death.

Pretty much, he doesn't do things for himself. He doesn't do things for the world either. The things that he does he does for the people that he cares about and the people that are closest to him. He saved the world, sure, but he saved it to protect the people that he cared about living in the world. He won't do anything to help the Royal Quarter, but if someone from the Lower Quarter (such as Ted) asked him to do something, even if it's for the Royal Quarter, he'll find the time to do it. As said before, his "family" is his biggest priority. Those who are suffering are his second biggest priority. Those who are already living their life in luxury? Nah forget about them. They can handle things on their own. Which is why Yuri isn't your typical hero. In fact, if you ask him he's not a hero at all; in his eyes he's a criminal, despite the good deeds he's done for others. Only those that he's close to really know everything that he's done.

Although Yuri might not seem it, he's actually pretty good at noticing things and situations that other people might not notice themselves. This includes, but not limited to, when Yuri noticed something going on in an alleyway in Capua Nor, to noticing that there aren't any guards when Flynn was imprisoned by Don Whitehorse. He's also a pretty good at knowing what to do in situations, either being quick on his feet to get out of a situation, or leaving the situation to what it is for something else to happen. Such as letting himself get captured so Repede can leave with the bag they took back from Mr. Mordio. But while he has a good sense of street smarts you'll never find him reading a book. According to him he sucks at studying, so things such as magic are foreign to him. This is mostly because he's not the kind of person who can just sit in one place for a long period of time, despite how lax he is in the Lower Quarter.

He's also able to understand his dog and translate what he's saying (not really).

Overall it's the circumstances that really changed, rather than Yuri himself. While he did change in minor ways, Yuri's ideals and how he acts around those he likes (and those he dislikes) pretty much stay the same. He'll do whatever it takes in order to help and protect the people he cares about, even if it meant becoming a criminal. Being that is something Yuri understands that it is what he is, and that it's the life style that he had chosen for himself. But he only does what is absolutely necessary and considers these things before actually doing them, as he understands the burden that comes along as well.

But bring a criminal aside Yuri is actually a pretty chill guy and can be relatively easy to get along with. Just like how he's not your typical protagonist he isn't quite your typical criminal, either.

He's just Yuri.

ABILITIES:

Yuri is ambidexturous, which makes him for a pretty good swordsman. He's able to easily wield both sword and axes with both hands, though he normally uses his left (as his right is normally used for punches in his fighting style). On top of that, many of his abilities come from the Bodhi Blastia on his left wrist. With it he's able to use more powerful techniques and also take more hits, and so forth. He's still pretty strong without it, but he won't be able to use any of the advanced techniques that he knows, nor will they be as strong.

Fighting aside, Yuri has a good sense of taste and with that a good cook. He's the second best cook in the party (after Patty) and he's able to alter a recipe to add his "taste" to a meal, or simply to be able to work a decent meal off of what he has avaliable.

Other than that he doesn't have any really special "talents". Though he's good with his hands so he can help with things such a building or moving equipment. Anything that requires science, or any sort of studying prior is a no go. He sucks at studying. But he is pretty deceptive so anything that requires looking for minor details could be a thing.

INVENTORY:

- Bodhi Blastia
- Sword (Second Star)
- Gauntlet

MEMORY ALTERATION:

Once Upon a Time there was a man called Yuri Lowell. He lived in the Lower Quarter, where he thought it'd be a great idea to punch a knight for trying to collect taxes early. His so called Best Friend Flynn Scifo decided that, because Yuri should have learned his lesson by now, rather than him sitting in jail for a week he's going to go help build this new society. Underwater.

"Only until I think you learned your lesson," Flynn says. What a lying jerk.
