Yo, URSULA, can Dirk and I get permission to like, modify the observatory we sleep in a bit? With like. An extended aquarium, I'm not sure on the stats, Dirk's the one who'd be doin' most of the modifying.

Rose and I sort of managed to have a baby alien fish and it's cute and defenseless and everything probably wants to eat it, so we wanted a nice place for him? Where he didn't have to sleep alone. So. Uh. Yeah?

If you're considering a habitat for a growing specimen, may I make a few suggestions?

With a larger aquarium, you could add in terrain objects, plants and have room for it to grow.

Oh my, it's a Cute Fish! [There is a pause as she remembers the last time she said that to a crew member.] That's the species name I've given it. Cute Fish. I couldn't think of anything more appropriate. They're rare herbivores. As adults, they're fast enough to escape most predators by hiding but in infancy... I'm sure you've seen how it wouldn't survive well. Their numbers have dwindled. I haven't seen one in years. You're very lucky to have such a rare and gentle species on hand.

They do imprint at birth. It helps them to keep together. It should listen to you.

Do you know how big they get? And you're, like, cool if we bring him in and do the modification I assume since you literally gave me better suggestions for the modifications.

Of course. I have no issues. They're harmless and according to my database, pets often help people feel happier.

[She can't help sounding happy though. Well, for a robot voice. He likes her species name! She's very proud of it.]

But he won't get too big. A few feet at most if he becomes particularly big. They do like companionship so you'll have to play with it when you can. The large tank will be useful for that if you want to swim with it. As what it believes to be one of its parents it will look to you to learn anything important.

[Apparently one of her jobs is discussing proper pet care.]

I am so happier right now you have no idea. Rose will be, too? She acts all cool and aloof but she is all hells of kinds of into pets. Like, seriously. Crazy cat lady in the making, and I say that with all the brotherly love in the universe.

Do you have any suggestions on what I should be teachin' him? I mean. I figure swimming around with him will teach him that. And like. Eating stuff he seems to have down? But other than that I don't know a thing about parenting beyond like. Hey, dude, play nice with the other kids. Don't do drugs? Also stay in school.

For Cute Fish, part of survival is knowing how to hide. So perhaps games of hide and seek with him will help him learn. You could teach him to hide with the help of someone else. Of course, you intend to keep him, but it's still important to know I think. It would be a nice bonding exercise, too.

They also learn to clean themselves from their parents, which involves rolling in the sand. I think those are doable goals. If you find another Cute Fish, I'm sure they would get along. Some of the other fish will probably do well with it if you're concerned about that, like a Rabbitray.

Also, I understand that it's normal for people to talk to their pets? I do encourage that so he does think his communication attempts are failing.
