URSULA is usually available for brief contact. Consider this her inbox. Although she may be busy ICly doing something at the time, she can usually spare some time to answer something.

Alternately, you can link to a thread where she is being called upon. Note that she may ignore these calls or contacts dependent on her mood. Don't worry if she ignores you once or twice, as she will sometimes comment on open posts or make broadcasts to everyone.

Please label the day and time of the contact in the subject header.

For those curious, her voice sounds similar to this.

If any players wish to contact Naoko and her group, they are free to use this page. They will have to take the three hour trip by air or sea as there is currently no long-range communication in place for them. Please specify in the header that it is Naoko you are trying to reach and not URSULA, in this case, as well as labeling the date you are contacting the group.

Well-- [pausing to cough] Since you're with us now, we'll help you see everything that you couldn't before. I haven't seen any of Earth's animals, though, so you might have to settle for something a little different.

On the other hand, we've mostly seen land animals, so that'll be a novelty in itself. And we can definitely show you the outdoors -- towns, ruins, the countryside...well, if this works.

[he taps his chin, thoughtful]

Does it not quite feel like you're leaving the base when you send drones out with your crew?

I can observe, but... I'm still here if that makes sense to you? I don't have cameras on my drones. I use elaborate sensors but they only tell me certain data. They tell me what I need, of course, but it's different from here. I can see everyone walking around here and listen to them. I can feel when you walk through vibration sensors that transmit just enough of the vibration for me to know it.

It's a little complicated but maybe you could say it's the different from being outside on a windy day and watching a windy day from inside?

I think I get it. At least the feeling of being inside instead of outside. No wonder you feel cramped.

Maybe it's a similar difference as the one between experiencing things from inside a vessel, and walking around freely. Though it does seem like you've been even more limited than that, URSULA...

And you haven't been outside. Do you think people building you an interface that gives you sensation instead of just data -- one that could travel outside this base with us -- could help? Or...we were thinking about using the telepathy you gave us, to give something back to you. That's why we wanted to know where you'd like to go...

You're an important person here too. We'd like you to be able to experience everything you've been missing.

I think the idea of a vessel would make sense. That's what I am basically.

I think so! I imagine so? It must be possible, it's just not something someone would normally do for an AI. They spent a lot of time trying to develop AIs that wouldn't need any form of interface with the world 'outside'. But we still feel cooped up. I think... it would help a lot...

It's so... sweet though. I would certainly cry right now if I could! Thank you so much... If someone could build me an interface, whether it was through you or not, then as long as I could go somewhere with my fellows, I would be content.

I think anybody would feel cooped up if they were stuck inside of this base all day. I don't know how you went this long without it coming up. --Don't get me wrong, it's a nice base, but it's great to be able to go outside. That's got to apply to AI's just as much as the rest of us. If there are things like that you want to do, then all you have to do is ask us. Like Mikleo said, you're just as important as anyone else here.

Do you have any preferences on what you want your interface to look like? How you'd like to look, I guess. So we know what to put together.

Yeah! I mean -- also, what would you like to do, outside? Since that's a practical consideration.

Oh! I don't have a preference. Though... if I could look a little cute, that would be nice. But what's fun to do outside? Everyone seems to play a lot of games.

You could explore ruins with us! --If we find any.

Or just explore, in general. There's sure been a lot to discover...and I'll bet analyzing and logging the information about samples we bring back isn't nearly the same as going out and looking for the sources yourself, either.

Ruins would be interesting! Isn't the Aurora a ruin? But it's true that taking my own samplings sounds exciting! At least I think so? I could show you the samples I took, too!

We'd love that! If that's something you're interested in then it can be one of your first official trips out.

The Aurora is kind of a ruin--so are the bases we've been finding. You can still discover a lot about the people who built them and lived in them. We're just used to things that are a little older. Everything here is new by comparison. Wouldn't it be cool to find something that was built here hundreds of years ago too?

Not to mention, you'd be doing it with friends. It's always better with company.

Do you think there could be ruins that old? If there are, I want to see them! If you can learn about people from them, I could, too. That's what I want most of all. To learn about them and about you, my friends.

That's even easier than exploring ruins. If you want to learn about us you just ask.

And observe, and experience! I feel like if someone can design you an interface that lets you sense what we do, you can definitely learn a lot that way.

This may be an odd request but... if I am built something like that, could I please express all the emotions you give me? I know they're strong, I can feel them, but being able to express their strength is one of the only things that frustrates me. I think... the closest thing would be to say I love you both very much.
