URSULA CONTACT
URSULA is usually available for brief contact. Consider this her inbox. Although she may be busy ICly doing something at the time, she can usually spare some time to answer something.
Alternately, you can link to a thread where she is being called upon. Note that she may ignore these calls or contacts dependent on her mood. Don't worry if she ignores you once or twice, as she will sometimes comment on open posts or make broadcasts to everyone.
Please label the day and time of the contact in the subject header.
For those curious, her voice sounds similar to
this.
If any players wish to contact Naoko and her group, they are free to use this page. They will have to take the three hour trip by air or sea as there is currently no long-range communication in place for them. Please specify in the header that it is Naoko you are trying to reach and not URSULA, in this case, as well as labeling the date you are contacting the group.

She frowns at the mention of the Kharaa though. ]
A lot of the material we have on them is classified, you know. [ Despite this, she still pulls a small datapad from her pocket. ] We don't believe they have to communicate verbally with each other. So the shrieking is... weird, to say the least.
no subject
Wait what recording? When did this happen?
[ he hates not knowing what is going on but he has nothing too useful to add here. ]
no subject
[ for fun and profit, since he hadn't realized they'd find That Recording that he definitely could translate. ]
Do they all shriek? Also, uh, I did not know that it was classified. Do you guys know what the like...weird noises mean, though? If we run into them, it could help. And like, we seem to run into everything we hear about here eventually. Because we're super lucky that way.
no subject
We don't, no. Usually when they are shrieking at us we end up dead. Any facility that seems to be making any type of breakthrough on research about them gets attacked by the Kharaa army. [ She frowns. ] Of course, there is always the chance that there's information on that that I'm not of a high enough rank to access. War is politics, after all.
no subject
So... that probably means they have spies on the inside or whatever, right? That'll explain how they track those places down. Or they're just smarter than humans.
[ conveniently ignores the fact that the kharaa attack other species besides humans... ]

[ dave is a lying liar who lies, until and unless he figures out how to convince naoko and co to like. maybe not kill some kharaa.
but he's a really good liar. damn him? ]
Dude, I'm standing right here. Why you gotta insult humans 24/7.
no subject
[ She smiles for a second, but her expression turns more serious again. ]
How many of you are there, anyway? When you say "a ton" do you mean more than ten, or...
no subject
[ he gestures at dave. ]
Are you going to give him what he asked for or what.
no subject
[ despite dating a human? ]
Not sure of our exact count. It's more than ten, like he said, but like...somewhere around a few dozen, maybe?
no subject
[ She won't dwell on the subject of their numbers though. Still... interesting. ]
There's only one sound bite that I have access to. If my ship didn't crash, I probably could have looked up more for you since we had files there. I'm pretty sure those are all gone now... They were programmed to self delete in case of an emergency. Stay out of enemy hands and whatnot.
[ Naoko plays the audio file. The shrieking can be roughly translated to, "Find them. Find the--" before the audio gets cut off. ] I can send it to you.
no subject
Jegus, that sounds awful. [ he glances at dave ] And you think this might actually be helpful?
no subject
if her ship crashed it's...probably not the one rose wants him to find? dave makes a note to bother rose about this later. ]
It could be. More information never hurt, right? I mean, beyond giving us headaches and a sense of our own mortality, but whatever.
no subject
Do you think the Kharaa is here then? All of our intelligence indicate that they haven't made it to this planet yet. And even if they did, the planet would screw them over as badly as it screwed the rest of us. Actually, it'll be even worse for them, because most of the wildlife here wouldn't be their first choice as hosts. Fish can't exactly operate machinery and all.
[ She presses a few more buttons on the datapad before putting it away. ] Unless they find a conveniently placed based filled more than ten, maybe around a few dozen, kids though. That might make things a little easier for them.
no subject
[ where are they, naoko??? the cat is around!!! what about the rest!!! ]
It's better to be safe than sorry though I guess is what he means.

[ he pops a basket of halloween candy out of his sylladex. there are chocolates thanks to their chocolate plants and the people who actually...cook...and rock candy and a bunch of flavored stuff based off what they have. fruity hard candies and some other things. all mostly in halloween shapes?
what does naoko think these guys do all day. ]
Halloween candy from the Halloween candy team, as like. Thanks and Happy Holidays and shit?
no subject
I can't believe it's already October... Time flies when you've abandoned all hope of ever seeing your friends and family again. [ She picks up one of the chocolates. ] Thanks.
no subject
[ as if he can really judge... karkat glances at dave. ]
Is that all you wanted to say to her or is there some other super secret question you have to let out?
no subject
Uh...no? I mean, if the other two people - it's two people, right? - don't want to meet us I didn't have a whole lot more to ask...oh, wait, no. Uh, about how you guys got here. Like, do your memories on that all match up?
[ to naoko. ]
To the planet itself, I mean.
no subject
We came here on our ship, which crashed horribly. Is there something wrong with your memories?
no subject
[ karkat isn't sure if he wants to explain the whole paradox space shit to naoko?? at least, not unless they absolutely have to. either way he grabs dave's arm. ]
Anything else before we ignore each other's existences until the other party becomes useful again?
no subject
Not all of us were from the same shipwrecks, and it's useful to have, like, more data on how the fuck people crashlanded here. In the event we someday get a ship up and running, it'd be cool if we could avoid whatever-the-hell keeps crashing us, you dig? Some people remember it happening a hair different than others, so we're not sure if it's all the same...event. Thing. I'm not sure how to word it.
[ but he lets karkat take his arm and just loops said arm around karkat's waist. ]
I think that's about it from me, though. Y'all good?
no subject
She, at the very least, seems to buy Dave's explanation enough to just shrug. ]
It was the pulse that shot us down, although I wouldn't be surprised if there's other things bringing down ships here. This planet is special like that. [ She smiles, though it borders on a smirk. ] And we're as good as we can be. By the way, I also sent you guys a list of other items I'd like for you to bring to us if it's in your position. It's just a few simple things like clothes and metals, nothing fancy. We'd appreciate anything you can manage.
no subject
anyway karkat just makes a face. ]
You are so needy. But sure, yeah, if we can [ they totally can they have the technology for this?? ] we'll send shit over.
no subject
[ ok karkat say your final insults because dave just starts floating off the ground. ]
no subject
Oh god. Please bring cat treats. Where did you guys even get cat treats? Actually, I don't care, just give us some, thanks.
[ Naoko at least waves them off. ]
