URSULA CONTACT
URSULA is usually available for brief contact. Consider this her inbox. Although she may be busy ICly doing something at the time, she can usually spare some time to answer something.
Alternately, you can link to a thread where she is being called upon. Note that she may ignore these calls or contacts dependent on her mood. Don't worry if she ignores you once or twice, as she will sometimes comment on open posts or make broadcasts to everyone.
Please label the day and time of the contact in the subject header.
For those curious, her voice sounds similar to
this.
If any players wish to contact Naoko and her group, they are free to use this page. They will have to take the three hour trip by air or sea as there is currently no long-range communication in place for them. Please specify in the header that it is Naoko you are trying to reach and not URSULA, in this case, as well as labeling the date you are contacting the group.

mega cannons? karkat isn't really sure how much of that info he wants to share with naoko though. ]
How would someone turn this planet against the universe anyway? I get that it's alive and giving us all a headache, but what would that do against everyone else?
no subject
[ Naoko shifts her weight, arms folded. ]
This planet is alive with powerful magic, whether or not the things on it are alive. For us that means nothing. We would use some of its sentient abilities to protect us, like its ability to destroy anything that comes near it. But imagine if you could direct this planet. If you outfitted it for warp space and travel. Just bring it close to a threat and the threat is gone. That sure would be the end of most intelligent species. We have guns, big ones, but nothing that can destroy a planet like this. We'd have to surrender and so would anything else the Kharaa chose to point it at.

Do you think they'd be able to do something like that? It seems kind of a stupidly complicated job.

Well, if they ever show up I give you full permission to just blow my head off. I won't even bitch about it while you do it.
[ hm, what else. ] What do they look like anyway?
[ URSULA told him about what they do with host bodies, but he's wondering if there's any type of marker that would be able to distinguish someone who's under kharaa control from someone who isn't. ]
no subject
Sure thing. And they're microscopic but where they gather it looks like moss or algae. You know you're in trouble when you can actually see them. They build up bases fast as long as they have hosts.
no subject
[ they'd have a whole different set of problems on a desert planet though so. ]
Uh. Th...anks for the info? [ he sounds like he is not used to actually telling people thank you lmao. ] Two more things though. One, do you know anything about some crystals on this planet? And I actually have another present for you that Dirk insisted I gave you instead of him just handing it over himself?
[ he shoots dirk an annoyed glance but!! whatever!! ]

[ he takes another box out of his sylladex, a lot smaller than the other ones holding the rest of the items. ]
This creepy nurse lady made a vaccine for it and Dirk wanted you to have it. You know, just in case.
no subject
You can... create a vaccine. I shouldn't ask how, should I? At least you're not living in total squalor like I thought. But thank you. I'll make sure to tell the others about it and instruct them.
[ She smiles at little. ]
You're not so bad for a loud teenage alien.
no subject
I... guess... I mean. Yes? Obviously I'm not. Fuck. Okay, that's all I'm just going to go over there with Dick Strider now bye.
[ he does the most pathetic goodbye wave in the world before hurrying over to where dirk is HE'S EMBARRASSED ]
no subject
Did he give you the vaccine?
[He feels he should check on that before going further!
Even though he absolutely heard it because he is a shit and listened in on the conversation. RIP.]
no subject
I guess you didn't need someone to watch over you after all.
no subject
[So it all worked out.]
I have something else for you, but I don't trust Karkat with anything that comes down to zeroes and ones. [He sends the file: Naoko's Catsume.]
I would have given you Creepvine and Instaclam too, but you wouldn't be able to exchange anything with us. Unless you think the other people on your base would be interested.
no subject
Hm? Oh, Jenn would love them. She's bored to death out here without anyone her age.
no subject
[He sends those over as well. He's glad Naoko likes her Catsume, he guesses?]
We have plans for setting up relays for radio signals across a wider scope. We're hoping it will help us find any stray survivors or arrivals of our kind that are too far off. Are you interested in having that as a line of contact for us?
no subject
Yes, that would be grand. Have you figured out how people from other universes are arriving on this planet?
no subject
[LIKE. MAYBE? Who knows.]
no subject
[ Then again he did just say it's gotten ridiculous. ]
We would need more resources than we have available right now.
no subject
[His brows crease a little bit, and he continues on in his inexpressive way.]
I've been searching the island for URSULA's servers. We're trying to move her from here to somewhere we can defend her ourselves. Have you found anything that might indicate their presence?
no subject
Is that your AI? URSULA? As in from the old terraforming project?
no subject
no subject
I always wanted to study her. She was one of the first true AIs. We tend to historically consider her the start of the Golden Age of AI. Before that, everyone in the science thought AIs were probably going to stay a pipedream for a few decades or even another hundred years. God, I remember a headline about her calling her, "The Dream That Came True." Now we have AIs for everything.
[ It's no surprise someone who takes programming seriously would actually be interested in the history. ]
But since she's so old, her servers must be a mess. I can't believe they still work. Have you tried reversing her signal to track where it's coming from or is it cloaked? I figure it's the latter but I thought I'd ask.
no subject
It's cloaked. You can imagine why finding them and moving her to something safer and more modern would be a priority of mine. She herself can't tell me where it's coming from. If you haven't seen anything, we'll just have to keep looking.
[More Lara Croft adventures. Life isn't fair to him.]
What about you guys? The Aurora logs said that you had an advanced military AI with you. Were you able to recover it, or have you been working from scratch for everything?
